Destiny Hammerl, PMHNP-BC
Destiny is a compassionate Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a decade of nursing experience across a multitude of diverse clinical settings. She has worked as a traveling nurse, delivering care all over the East and West coasts, and she has also held many leadership/supervisory roles overtime. She has experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including work at nationally recognized academic medical centers such as Massachusetts General Hospital and UCLA Health. Her extensive nursing background consists of emergency nursing and level I trauma care, medical-surgical & telemetry nursing, progressive cardiac care, oncology nursing, acute rehab, PACU nursing, supervisory nurse leadership and mental health care. She has most recently worked in both Crisis Stabilization and outpatient psychiatry, supporting individuals through acute episodes as well as ongoing mental health management. Destiny attended Niagara University as an undergraduate student where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). Continuing her education, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN) from the University of South Alabama and after graduation she went on to become a double Board Certified PMHNP. With a strong determination to grow further and a desire to expand on her clinical expertise, Destiny is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.
Throughout her journey in healthcare, Destiny has adapted imperative critical thinking skills, she has gained the clinical knowledge as well as hands-on experience and most importantly of all, she has deepened her compassion to deliver optimal and holistic care to every single individual that she is privileged to help and treat. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management for a wide range of mental health conditions. Destiny’s #1 goal as a provider is to treat each individual from a holistic approach, while simultaneously addressing their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. She is passionate about defeating the stigma associated with mental illness and is eager to address the growing mental health needs in all populations across the lifespan.
In addition to her work in traditional healthcare systems, Destiny has participated in disaster relief medical missionary trips to underserved areas such as Zimbabwe, Africa and the U.S. Virgin Islands, providing urgent care and mental health support in resource-limited, high-stress environments. These experiences have strengthened her ability to offer compassionate, trauma-informed care, particularly to those coping with displacement, loss, and crisis. Destiny’s faith plays a foundational role in how she serves others. She believes in treating everyone with dignity, empathy, humility and compassion, recognizing that healing is a deeply personal journey. For patients who wish to integrate spirituality into their care, she is happy to provide support that aligns with your values, while respecting all beliefs and backgrounds.
Destiny is also a member of several professional organizations including : the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the American Nurses Association (ANA) and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her approach to mental health care is rooted in evidence-based treatment and current research but always guided by each individual’s unique goals, values and lived experience.
